Delay

Interruptions seem the norm in m y world. At work, at home, no task is just completed, start to finish. Something as simple as a toddler's bowel habits or as involved as planning the annual Walk to Remember become the urgent task and the important gets left behind, unfinished, delayed, added to and piled on. Case in point: In the middle of cleaning the Wall of Shame, I had to stop in order to wash, pack, and plan for a cross country road trip and vacation to Yellowstone. Amazing trip. Worth it. And yet an example of the continuous pulling in multiple directions that keeps me from accomplishing the organization I long to achieve. It is stressful to me to live in chaos. I find it hard to relax or feel like I can just take a day or an hour to myself. There is always a mess to be cleaned up, something to do, something of someone's that has been left where it doesn't belong. And looking at it makes me angry, frustrated, and tired. Hence my determination to do, to be, better. ...

Better

I moved into a house seven years ago, that was too small, and full of someone else's things.  The addition of another child and converting a family room to a bedroom for the first did not make things any easier.  I'm a busy working mom, running a business and feeling overwhelmed and tired most of the time. I often/usually/almost always feel like I don't have time to get things done.  I start organizing projects and then get interrupted by more urgent things resulting in a cluttered, chaotic living space. I've decided I can do better. And I must do better if I am going to have any peace in my life. My wall of shame: About a quarter of our bedroom, filled with overwhelming clutter.  Things I haven't had time to put away, things that got dumped here in an attempt to make the rest of the house look less embarrassing for company or a gathering, paperwork that I can't ever get my head around organizing because I don't have any uninterrupted time to so...
